dr christopher born, rhode island orthopedic surgeon05.18.2011-- Dr. Christopher Born is featured in the May 18th article, Charity Funds Combat Wound Research, at Military.com.

"Born is one of two doctors partly funded by the public charity to develop new ways to treat combat troops' wounds to prevent or lessen the severity of amputations. His work involves layering pins and rods used to hold together shattered bone with an antimicrobial coating to stave off infection while limbs heal."

"Born is currently testing his treated rods on goats and should know by August when the research can move on to human testing. Funding for that phase will come not only from the foundation, but from the DoD, he said."
