Jennifer Smith


Jennifer  Smith has served in several administrative capacities during her 18 years at University Orthopedics and now is the Manager of the hand therapy department.

She received her Masters in Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Boston University. Jennifer joined University Orthopedics in 1991.  She obtained hand therapy certification from HTCC in 1991.

Areas of clinical interest include orthotic fabrication, acute hand trauma, fracture management and post-op management of joint replacements of the hand.  She has co-authored a book chapter on carpal tunnel syndrome and served several years as the chair for the hand therapy special interest group of the Rhode Island Occupational Therapy Association.



Karen Carney



Karen Carney served as the Co-Director of Hand therapy at University Orthopedics for 12 years and is now enjoying her return to full-time patient care at our Dudley Street office. 

She received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Boston University and obtained her certification by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission (HTCC) in 1992.  Karen has 20+ years of experience in hand and upper extremity care, with her initial training and experience at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. 

She has co-authored research on Dupuytren’s disease, a textbook chapter on the rehabilitation of extensor tendon injuries and a second chapter on carpal tunnel syndrome. In addition she has presented on various topics at regional conferences. 



Kerry Demers



Kerry Demers practices hand therapy at our Dudley Street office. 

She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor in Science degree in kinesiology/athletic training and from Utica College of Syracuse University with a Bachelor in Science in Occupational Therapy. She was awarded the Evelyn Mackin Hand Therapy Fellowship in 2005.  After completing this fellowship she moved to Rhode Island and has practiced at University Orthopedics, obtaining hand therapy certification from the Hand Therapy Certification Commission (HTCC) in 2007.

She has presented at the New England Society of Hand Surgery, assisted with development of the research portion of the American Society for Hand Therapists website, and co-authored a chapter on condylar fractures of the proximal phalanx. 



Sara DiIeso



Sara DiIeso is our reimbursement and documentation team leader and practices at our Dudley Street office.

She received her Bachelor in Science degree in occupational therapy from the University of New Hampshire and then completed a six-month fellowship at the Hand Rehabilitation Center of Louisianna. 

She obtained certification as a hand therapist by HTCC in 2005 and has practiced at University Orthopedics since 2002.  Clinical interests include soft tissue injury, tendon and nerve repair and trauma.



Kerry Ebert



Kerry Ebert graduated from Springfield College with a Master of Education Degree in Occupational Therapy. Prior to coming to RI from Boston, she provided services in the area of general rehabilitation and traumatic brain injury.

She completed her clinical field experience in hand therapy at University Orthopedics and her interests include soft tissue injuries, traumatic hand injuries and splint fabrication.

She is currently pursuing a Certificate in Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation from Tufts University.



Carol Ann Greene



Carol Ann Greene is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in our Dudley Street office. 

She is licensed in the state of Rhode Island and has been employed by University Orthopedics since 1998.  She received an Associate of Science degree from Springfield Technical Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree from American International College, in Springfield, MA. 

A member of the American Society of Hand Therapists, her clinical interests include the rehabilitation of orthopedic and traumatic hand injuries.



Susanna Gregorzek


Susanna Gregorzek graduated from Worcester State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and Psychology. She has completed the Advanced Hand and Upper Quarter Rehabilitation Certificate program at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

Currently she is pursuing a Masters Degree in Health Science from Drexel University with a concentration in hand and upper quarter rehabilitation.

Before joining University Orthopedics, Susanna’s work experience included providing services for early intervention, skilled nursing facilities and hand therapy.



Geraldine Racette


Geraldine Racette is the Site Coordinator for our East Greenwich office. 

She received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Keauka College in central New York. 

Geraldine has 10+years of experience as an occupational therapist and has achieved hand therapy certification from HTCC in 2001.  She specializes in the treatment of tendon and nerve injuries and amputations of the upper extremity.


Nancy Griffin Reed


Nancy Griffin Reed works per diem, filling in at both of our offices as needed.

She received her Masters of Health Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Florida. Nancy obtained her hand therapy certification from HTCC in 2001 and has been practicing hand therapy at University Orthopedics for 10 years.

She has presented at a regional conference on assessment of the wrist, guest lectured on wrist anatomy at local occupational therapy assistant programs, published a peer reviewed journal article on rehabilitation of the wrist and co-authored a chapter on extensor tendons.



Kathleen Snelgrove


Kathleen Snelgrove is the clinical education team leader for the hand therapy department. 

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Worcester State College in Massachusetts.

Kathleen has practiced as a hand therapist since 1993 and has been with University Orthopedics for 10+ years. She obtained her hand therapy certification from the HTCC in 2000.

Kathleen also has experience working with the pediatric population within the public school system. Her clinical interests include rehabilitation of wrist injuries, splinting, pediatrics and general hand therapy rehabilitation.



Andrea Tammaro


Andrea Tammaro practices at our Dudley Street office and is the team leader in charge of computerized scheduling and hand therapy referrals. 

She graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.

Andrea has 8+ years experience in outpatient orthopedics and has been at the hand therapy department of University Orthopedics since 2003. She obtained certification in hand therapy in 2006 from HTCC and is interested in rehabilitation of the wrist and elbow as well as orthotic fabrication.
