Julia A. Katarincic, MD

Julia Ann Katarincic, MD, specializes in care of the hand and microvascular surgery for children and adults, with particular expertise in pediatric upper extremity problems. Her chief areas of clinical practice interest include arthritis of the hand, congenital hand anomalies, microsurgery, brachial plexus injuries, and peripheral nerve injuries, including carpal tunnel syndrome and fractures.

Dr. Katarincic is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Brown Medical School. She has authored numerous scholarly articles and book chapters that focus on orthopaedic treatment of the hand. In recent years she has given a great number of presentations throughout the United States and abroad, including presentations before the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. She is a member of the Council of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, treating both adults and children with a variety of upper extremity problems including carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, and fractures. She has a special interest in congenital hand and brachial plexus injuries.

A graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Pittsburgh's School of Medicine, Dr. Katarincic completed her residency at Brown University. She then went on to complete advanced fellowship training in hand and microvascular surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she remained a staff member for six years. Before returning to Providence to join University Orthopedics in 2002, Dr. Katarincic practiced at the Mayo Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital. She recently served as a member of the Department of Orthopaedics at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Katarincic is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Association for Hand Surgery, and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society.
