Director of Physical Therapy

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut and an Advanced Masters of Science degree in Sports and Orthopedic Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh. Dave is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist by the American Physical Therapy Association and is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association as an athletic trainer. Dave has served as an athletic trainer/physical therapist for the University of Rhode Island Menís and Womenís Ice Hockey Teams since 2007 and 2014 respectively. He also has served as a physical therapist and an assistant athletic trainer for the Providence Bruins Hockey Team of the AHL since 2011. He has published several peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and delivered presentations at several national professional conferences. Musculoskeletal rehabilitation of the shoulder, knee, spine, foot and ankle are Dave's area of expertise and clinical interest.

Physical Therapy Site Coordinator

Kelly Bettez DeSimone is the Physical Therapy Site Coordinator at our Butler Campus kelly desimone, physical therapist rhode island, therapy site coordinator rhode island, spine therapy rhode island, sports medicine rhode island, orthopedics rhode islandfacility in Providence. Kelly received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education-Fitness and her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island. She has been working as a physical therapist since 1993 in inpatient, outpatient and aquatic physical therapy. She has lectured and trained instructors for the Southern New England Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation since 1992. Kelly is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She joined University Orthopedics in 2005 and her clinical interests include sports medicine, orthopedics and arthritis of the shoulder, knee, foot, ankle and spine.

Physical Therapist - Dan Bien

Dan serves as the Coordinator of Clinical Education for the physical therapy department at University Orthopedics. He received a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dan also received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Villanova University. Dan is currently recognized as an Orthopedic Certified Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and a Credentialed Clinical Instructor by the American Physical Therapy Association. He is also a member of the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists. He is also a member of the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists. Dan completed a sports medicine physical therapy residency at the University of Cincinnati where he worked extensively with collegiate athletes and members of the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. He has presented and published on multiple topics including rehabilitation of the shoulder and knee, and he has performed clinical research activities.

Physical Therapist - Mike McGee

Mike McGee: (Butler: Sports) is a physical therapist at the Butler Campus office in Providence. Mike joined University Orthopedics after graduating from Springfield College in 2013. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Springfield while also competing as a member of Springfield's club hockey and collegiate tennis teams. His clinical interests are in the area of sports medicine and musculoskeletal rehabilitation in adult and adolescent populations.

Physical Therapist - Matt Medieros

Matt Medieros (Butler: Sports) is a staff Physical Therapist at the Butler Campus. Matt graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences in 2010. Matt went on to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Hartford and graduated in May of 2013. Matt completed his final clinical education at University Orthopedics at the Butler Campus. Mattís clinical interests are orthopedic and sports medicine.

Physical Therapist - Kevin Mahoney

Kevin Mahoney: (Butler: Adult) is the Physical Therapy Site Coordinator in the Adult PT Clinic at our Butler Campus facility in Providence. He joined University Orthopedics in 2013. His clinical interests and expertise include non-operative and post-surgical rehabilitation of the shoulder, hip, and knee, as well as manual therapy. Kevin has a strong background in athletic training having worked as a certified athletic trainer in Division I college athletics for 9 years before pursuing his physical therapy degree, and has provided coverage for Tolman High School football since 2008. Kevin received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island after completing a Masters of Education in Health Occupations from North Carolina State University and Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Colby-Sawyer College.

Physical Therapist - Nick Bruno

Nick Bruno: (Butler: Sports and Dudley) is a physical therapist at our Butler campus and Dudley St. locations. He received a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in 2014. Nick is recognized as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Nick's clinical interests include rehabilitation of both non-operative and post-operative orthopedic injuries, functional movement pattern assessment, and sports performance.

Physical Therapist - Tom Dubuque

Tom Dubuque is a physical therapist at our Butler Drive facility. Tom graduated from Springfield College in 2003 with a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy. He is recognized as a Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He is also recognized as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. His clinical interests include non-operative and post-operative rehabilitation of the shoulder, knee, and hip. He also is a Sports Medicine Provider for Brown University Football.

Physical Therapist - Dustin Renaud

Dustin Renaud is a physical therapist at our Butler Campus location. He has over 8 years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation and has been with University Orthopedics for over 5 years. Dustin’s clinical interests are in sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation.

 

Physical Therapist Assistant - Jason Sousa

Jason Sousa is a physical therapist assistant in our Butler Campus office in the Adult Rehab clinic. He received an Associates degree in Applied Science from the Physical Therapy Assistant program at the Community College of Rhode Island. Jason has been employed by University Orthopedics since 1996. His clinical interest is in the rehabilitation of orthopaedic and sports medicine injuries.

Physical Therapist - Terry Moreno Toste

Terry Moreno Toste is Assistant Physical Therapy Site Coordinator in our Butler Campus office in Providence. Terry received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont where she played four years of field hockey. She has worked at University Orthopedics since 1996 in the area of outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation. She has assisted with sports medicine game coverage for the Bishop Hendricken High School Football Team since 1998 and with the University of Rhode Island Menís Ice Hockey Team since 2004. She has experience treating professional, collegiate and high school athletes throughout the region. Terryís clinical interests are in sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation.

Joe DeOrsey is Physical Therapy Site Coordinator for our East Greenwich office. Joe received a Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1998. He has over 15 years of physical therapy experience and has been with University Orthopedics for over 12 years. Joe's interest and clinical expertise is in rehabilitation of surgical and non surgical knee and shoulder injuries. He also has a strong interest in the rehabilitation of patients with throwing and basketball related injuries.

Physical Therapist - Eric Murphy

Eric Murphy has been a physical therapist in our East Greenwich office since 2008 and a certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute since 2011. Eric received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. He went on to receive a Masters of Science degree in Health Services Administration from Salve Regina University. Eric has worked for over 10 years in outpatient rehabilitation. His clinical interests include golf related fitness and injuries.

Physical Therapist Assistant - Normand R. Provost

Normand R. Provost is a physical therapy assistant in our East Greenwich office. He has 28 years of experience as a physical therapy assistant. While in the Navy, Norm graduated from the Physical Therapy Assistant program at the Allied School of Health Science. He also received an Associates degree in Business Administration from The Community College of Rhode Island. He has 21 years of experience with University Orthopedics, and has been the physical therapy assistant for The Newport Gulls Baseball Team for over 15 years. Norm also has 11 years experience as a Clinical Lab Instructor for The Community College of Rhode Island in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program. Norm is a certified Fit Fore Golf therapist. His rehabilitation interests include injuries of the knee and shoulder related to golf and baseball and rehabilitation of total hip and knee replacements.

Physical Therapist - Stephen Cinquegrana

Stephen Cinquegrana is a physical therapist at our East Greenwich office. He received a doctorate in physical therapy from the University of New England. Steve also received a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Rhode Island. His clinical interests span orthopedics and sports physical therapy in adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. He is also interested in combat biomechanics.

Physical Therapist - Kileen S. Urian

Kileen S. Urian is a physical therapist in our East Greenwich office. She received her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. She has been with University Orthopedics, Inc. since 2003. Kileen has worked at New England Baptist Hospital for over 5 years in acute orthopaedic rehabilitation. Kileen's interests and area of expertise are with total hip and knee joint replacement and general sports orthopaedic rehabilitation.

She has a passion for working with young athletes and the post-operative patient population.

 

Physical Therapist Assistant - Frances DeMello

Frances DeMello is a physical therapist assistant in the East Greenwich office. She received her degree in Applied Science from the Physical Therapist Assistant program at the Community College of Rhode Island. Frances has been working as a physical therapist assistant since 2002, and joined University Orthopedics in 2009. In addition to experience in orthopedics she has worked in a skilled nursing facility and in occupational rehabilitation.

Stacy is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Her clinical interests include both post-operative and non-operative sports medicine rehabilitation in adult and adolescent populations.

Physical Therapist - Val Gareau

Val Gareau is a physical therapist in our Dudley Street office in Providence. She received a Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. Val joined University Orthopedics in 2009. Prior to UOI, Val spent over 3 years treating orthopedic and sports medicine injuries at an outpatient physical therapy clinic in New York City. Val's clinical interests and expertise is in the rehabilitation of non-operative conditions and post-operative procedures of the shoulder, knee, and ankle.

Physical Therapist - Edward Wojciechowski

Ruth E. Gauthier is the Physical Therapy Site Coordinator in our Middletown Office. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from The University of Connecticut and she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health from The University of Rhode Island. Ruth has been with University Orthopedics for over 15 years. Prior to joining University Orthopedics she was a physical therapist at the Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Hospital in Newport where she had a diverse experience in outpatient, inpatient, acute and home physical therapy care. Her interests include rehabilitation of knee and shoulder and geriatric orthopaedics.
