Physical Therapy Clinical Staff
David J. Pezzullo is the Director of Physical Therapy for University Orthopedics. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut and an advanced Masters of Science degree in Sports and Orthopedic Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh. Dave is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist by the American Physical Therapy Association and is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association as an athletic trainer. Dave has published several peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and delivered presentations at several national professional conferences. He has served as an athletic trainer for the University of Rhode Island Men’s Ice Hockey team since 2007. Musculoskeletal rehabilitation of the shoulder, knee, spine, foot and ankle are Dave's area of expertise and clinical interest.
Kelly Bettez DeSimone is the Physical Therapy Site Coordinator at our Butler Campus facility in Providence. Kelly received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education-Fitness and her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island. She has been working as a physical therapist since 1993 in inpatient, outpatient and aquatic physical therapy. She has lectured and trained instructors for the Southern New England Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation since 1992. Kelly is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She joined University Orthopedics in 2005 and her clinical interests include sports medicine, orthopedics and arthritis of the shoulder, knee, foot, ankle and spine.
Joe DeOrsey is Physical Therapy Site Coordinator for our East Greenwich office. Joe received a Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts. He has over 12 years of physical therapy experience and has been with University Orthopedics for over 9 years. Joe's interest and clinical expertise is in rehabilitation of surgical and non surgical knee and shoulder injuries. He also has a strong interest in the rehabilitation of patients with throwing and basketball related injuries.
Stacy Faiola is the Physical Therapy Site Coordinator for our Dudley Street office in Providence. Stacy received a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac College in New Haven, Connecticut. She has been working at University Orthopedics since 1996. Stacy is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Her clinical interests include both post-operative and non-operative sports medicine rehabilitation in adult and adolescent populations.
Edward Wojciechowski is the Physical Therapy Site Coordinator in the Adult PT Clinic at our Butler Campus facility in Providence. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Therapy, summa cum laude, from Northeastern University in 1996. He has over 12 years of physical therapy experience in outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation, and has been with University Orthopedics for 8 years. Ed has attended numerous professional conferences in orthopedic physical therapy, sports medicine, and manual therapy in order to provide the most current treatment techniques for his patients. Ed's interest and clinical expertise is in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and post operative procedures of the shoulder, foot & ankle, and knee in adult and adolescent populations.
Dan Bien is a physical therapist at our Butler Campus location in Providence, and also serves as the Coordinator of Clinical Education for the physical therapy department at University Orthopedics. He received a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dan also received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Villanova University. Dan is currently recognized as an Orthopedic Certified Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Additionally, Dan completed a sports medicine physical therapy residency at the University of Cincinnati where he worked extensively with collegiate athletes and members of the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. Dan has presented on multiple topics including rehabilitation of the shoulder and knee, and he has performed clinical research activities.
Stephen Cinquegrana is a physical therapist at our Dudley Street office in Providence. He received a doctorate in physical therapy from the University of New England. Steve also received a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Rhode Island. His clinical interests span orthopedics and sports physical therapy in adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. He is also interested in combat biomechanics.
Caitlyn Cuthbertson is a physical therapist in our Butler Campus office in Providence. She received a Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Caitlyn also played four years of women's collegiate basketball at Springfield College. She had clinical experiences at Performance Rehabilitation in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Portland, Maine, and St. Francis Hospital's Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine in Hartford, Connecticut before joining University Orthopedics. Her clinical interests are in the area of sports medicine and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
Tom Dubuque is a physical therapist in our Dudley Street facility. Tom received a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Springfield College. He has been working in orthopedics and sports medicine since 2003. Tom is a former competitive swimmer and has extensive experience in the rehabilitation of swimming injuries. Tom is recognized as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. His clinical interests include non-operative and post-operative rehabilitation of shoulder and knee injuries.
Val Gareau is a physical therapist in our Dudley Street office in Providence. She received a Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. Val joined University Orthopedics in 2009. Prior to UOI, Val spent over 3 years treating orthopedic and sports medicine injuries at an outpatient physical therapy clinic in New York City. Val's clinical interests and expertise is in the rehabilitation of non-operative conditions and post-operative procedures of the shoulder, knee, and ankle.
Ruth E. Gauthier is a physical therapist in our Newport Office. Ruth has over 20 years of experience as a physical therapist. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from The University of Connecticut and she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health from The University of Rhode Island. Ruth has been with University Orthopedics for over 15 years. Prior to joining University Orthopedics she was a physical therapist at the Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Hospital in Newport where she had a diverse experience in outpatient, inpatient, acute and home physical therapy care. Her interests include rehabilitation of knee and shoulder and geriatric orthopaedics.
Terry Moreno Toste is a senior physical therapist in our Butler Campus office in Providence. Terry received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont. She has over 12 years of experience with University Orthopedics in the area of outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation. She has assisted with game coverage for the Bishop Hendricken High School football team for the past 10 years and with the University of Rhode Island hockey team for the past 6 years. She has experience treating professional, collegiate and high school athletes throughout the region. Terry’s clinical interests are in sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation.
Eric Murphy has been a physical therapist in our East Greenwich office since 2008 and a certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute since 2011. Eric received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. He went on to receive a Masters of Science degree in Health Services Administration from Salve Regina University. Eric has worked for over 10 years in outpatient rehabilitation. His clinical interests include golf related fitness and injuries.
Normand R. Provost is a physical therapy assistant in our Newport office. He has over 20 years of experience as a physical therapy assistant. While in the Navy, Norm graduated from the Physical Therapy Assistant program at the Allied School of Health Science. He also received an Associates degree in Business Administration from The Community College of Rhode Island. He has over 14 years of experience with University Orthopedics, and has been the physical therapy assistant for The Newport Gulls Baseball Team for over 7 years. Norm also has 11 years experience as a Clinical Lab Instructor for The Community College of Rhode Island in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program. Norm is a certified Fit Fore Golf therapist. His rehabilitation interests include injuries related to golf and baseball.
Dustin Renaud is a physical therapist at our Butler Campus location. Dustin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of Rhode Island and a Masters of Physical Therapy from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has over 8 years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation and has been with University Orthopedics for over 5 years. Dustin’s clinical interests are in sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation.
Jason Sousa is a physical therapist assistant in our Butler Campus office in the Adult Rehab clinic. He received an Associates degree in Applied Science from the Physical Therapy Assistant program at the Community College of Rhode Island. Jason has been employed by University Orthopedics since 1996. His clinical interest is in the rehabilitation of orthopaedic and sports medicine injuries.
Kileen S. Urian is a physical therapist in our East Greenwich office. She received her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University. She has been with University Orthopedics, Inc. since 2003. Kileen has worked at New England Baptist Hospital for over 5 years in acute orthopaedic rehabilitation. Kileen's interests and area of expertise are with total hip and knee joint replacement and general sports orthopaedic rehabilitation.
Kasey Winchell is a Physical Therapist at our East Greenwich office. She received a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Ithaca College and has been working in Orthopedic and Sports Medicine clinics since 2007. Kasey is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She has experience working with athletes to increase strength, speed, and agility and educating athletes on proper nutrition and hydration. Areas of clinical interest include foot and ankle rehabilitation, knee and shoulder post-surgical rehabilitation and manual therapy.
